About Petaluma Photography

Why Petaluma

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Petaluma was always the town you'd drive through on the way to somewhere else. Victorian storefronts, the old grain mill, the Petaluma River winding through downtown. It wasn't flashy, but it stuck with you.

What This Is

This site started as a way to collect photos that capture a specific feeling— the kind of quiet detail you notice when you're paying attention. A bent tree in a field. Morning light on a building. The textures of a place that tell you where you are.

Most of these photos aren't mine. They're from photographers on Unsplash and Pexels who've shared their work freely. I've gathered them here because they each capture something about Petaluma and the wider Sonoma County landscape that feels right.

The Approach

I'm drawn to images that show places as they actually are—not overly styled, not selling you anything. Just honest moments. A path through the woods. An old diner. The kind of scene that makes you slow down.

Photography, for me, is about documentation and memory. It's a way to hold onto the details that would otherwise slip away. This collection is part of that— a visual record of a place I keep coming back to, even when I'm somewhere else.
